The Pig Faced Bascinet came into use in the 14th century, and was popular amongst Italian and Serbian Knights and heavy cavalrymen. What made it different from the earlier Barbute and Bascinets was the large visor, which covered the face completely and could be adjusted. The Pig-Faced Bascinet was later phased out by Milanese, Churburg, and Gothic armors.
